Endometriosis

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the uterine lining grows outside the uterus. This can cause severe pelvic pain and fertility issues.

Endometriosis can begin at puberty and persist until menopause. It causes inflammation and scar tissue to form in the pelvic region and, less commonly, other parts of the body.

Common symptoms of endometriosis include:

• Severe pelvic pain, especially during menstruation.
• Pain during or after sex.
• Pain during urination or defecation.
• Difficulty getting pregnant.
• Chronic pelvic pain.
• Heavy bleeding during or between periods.
• Bloating or nausea.
• Fatigue.
• Depression or anxiety.

While symptoms often improve after menopause, this isn't always the case.
